What is your vision for this session? What do you hope to capture during our time together?

How does everyone relate to one another as a family? Are they affectionate, comfortable holding hands and having their arms around each other? Or are they not the touchy-feely type? No two groups of family members are exactly alike. My goal is to capture what is normal and natural to your family.

What should I know about the people being photographed? Are they shy or reserved? What makes them laugh and have fun? If you're in the session, be sure to include yourself!

I want our time together to be easy and comfortable. If there's something that's going to have you worrying the night before our session, please share that with me so I can help alleviate some of your stress.

Can I give the kids candy? It's amazing how quickly little ones warm up to mess-free treats like Smartees.

I will be working to capture moments and interactions as they unfold naturally, giving limited instruction or setting up shots. This is why it's so important to have chosen a location that is comfortable and speaks to you and your family. When people are in their own element and connecting freely, that's when the magic happens! That being said, if I see a beautiful pocket of light or something else that peaks my interest, I'll stop and place someone there. If I turn away and look back to find someone interacting beautifully and naturally, I will stop and photograph the moment. If I sense an opportunity to draw people together for a few shots, I will do that as well.
